The way things die

The exhibition is a site-specific video installation that explores the relationship between memory and dwelling, and the malleability of history. Due to the erasure and alteration of Bogota's history, the project researched alternative histories of the institution, the city, and the country. I worked with historians, shamans, and architects to unveil different significant layers in its formation. The script was written as if the institution's building shared its forgotten history, and a 1:1 virtual replica of the building was created with imaginary modern extensions to accompany the voice on a virtual tour. The video installation was placed in the institution's basement, after viewing, the building was left to roam by visitors, creating an uncanny feeling when it varied from the video.
